WEDNESDAY JULY 26, 2006 - LOS ANGELES, CALIF. Trash inspector Richard Gemmrig makes sure no hazardous waste is dumped in the active fill area of the Frank R. Bowerman Landfill near Los Angeles in Orange County, Calif. The landfill naturally produces methane gas from trash decomposition and Seattle-based Prometheus is installing a 5000 gallon per-day methane gas liquifying facility. Prometheus will liquify and sell the methane gas for transportation, heating, and industry. The gas is naturally produced by the landfill.
