The December 13, 2008, MTV Exit (End Exploitation and Trafficking) concert held at the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh hosted a majority of Cambodian artists who support the anti-human trafficking message of the concert series. Sponsored in part by USAID, which also supports the National Task Force Against Trafficking in Persons, the Exit campaign is intended to build awareness and change popular opinion about human trafficking. As a post-conflict country with a recent history of extreme violence, many Task Force officials recognize victimization may not be liked, but it is often tolerated. They believe a change in societal perception of violence is essential to reducing human trafficking.
