A portrait of a resident at Transitions Cambodia, an aftercare shelter for young women 15 years and older who have been trafficked and sexually exploited, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Most aftercare shelters work with women 15 years and younger while Transitions uses an open residential facility model where the young women come and go like any other teenager might, going to school, their jobs, and seeing friends. The concept is intended to instill a sense of dignity and responsibility in the young women so they can find their own voice and understand they have a choice, something that sexual trauma often robs from survivors.
