PINEDALE, WY - Roughneck Matt Lauger, 44, a resident in Pinedale since 1977, with his son Denver, 17, weathered the 1980's oil field bust and once again is working nights on a rig near Pinedale, Wy., on August 9, 2005. Lauger rents a two bedroom apartment for $600, nearly double of what it cost four years prior. Lauger works a drill rig for Unit Corporation, out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, of which he says "They're a good, safe company but like everybody they're busier than heck." While he says he is clean and free of drugs, his general comment about the industry as a whole--which is also based on his experiences in the 1980's--is that "What they (the drilling companies) want done for how fast they want it done, well as I say, you might just need some 'extra curricular.'"
