Life in the Akha hill tribe town of Senjai where human trafficking has been an issue. Even today, 40-50 children were trafficked in 2006 in the 50,000 person municipality Senjai is part of, according to past trafficking victim Ayee, a Senjai resident and advocate for women's and children's rights in the municipality. Ayee is a past resident and graduate of the nearbyl DEPDC in Mai Sai, northern Thailand. DEPDC is addressing the issue of human trafficking in northern Thailand by providing a safe place to live and study for youth who are at risk of being trafficked..
